Floodline Case Study: Apartments (Leak Detection)
Leak detection is now being fitted to more and more multi-occupancy apartment blocks and industrial conversions to protect from leaking pipework, bathrooms, kitchens and water heaters.
Floodline Leak Detection equipment was recently installed at the award winning Victoria Mills complex in Shipley, West Yorkshire monitoring all wet services within the building. When old buildings are converted into up-market apartments, new hot and cold water services are installed for each apartment. Bathrooms, W/C’s, Kitchens and Water Heaters - all potential leak sources.
Many refurbishment designs include suspended floors with water, electric and gas services within the floor void. Without some form of alarm the first sign of a leak in an upper apartment will be water cascading into the premises below. Left to continue for any length of time this can cause serious damage, major upheaval and also very expensive compensation claims.
Systems can be installed within the floor void directly beneath the water services pipework, bathrooms, kitchens etc. If needed each area can be allocated it’s own zone. Each Apartment can have it’s own local Floodline One Zone Control Panel, or a whole building can be monitored by a centrally located Floodline Multi-Zone Control Panel.
“People paying a fortune for a classy apartment do not expect to be affected by the carelessness of residents above. A flood is a disaster and usually results in legal action. Leak detection is a “must” to ensure we are covered.”
